Aon Assessment Tests

Aon’s cut-e offers several pre-employment assessment tests, each differing in structure, duration, time limit, difficulty, and what they assess.

Aon’s cut-e tests can be divided into four groups:

  1. Aptitude Tests
  2. Special Knowledge & Skills Tests
  3. Logic Tests
  4. Behavioral Assessments

You might be asked to take only one test, but it’s more likely you will be asked to take several different ones, to assess various aspects of your capabilities and personality.

Know the different Aon Assessment Tests:

Want to learn more about multiple Aon Assessment Tests? Solve Aon Assessment Practice Questions?
On this page we have created an Aon Assessment Study Guide with sample questions from our PrepPack that thoroughly go over each and every section.

1. Aon/cut-e Aptitude Tests

Aptitude tests, also known as ability tests, assess your professional knowledge and abilities in specific areas of expertise, such as numerical, verbal, and mechanical reasoning.

Cut-e offers various aptitude and skills tests–

  • A numerical reasoning test that assesses your ability to understand, analyze, and evaluate data from charts, diagrams, and tables.
You will have 37 tasks to complete in 12 minutes.
In each task, you will be presented with a statement, and you need to determine whether it is true, false, or cannot say according to numerical data displayed in different tabs.

Let's see an aon assessment test sample of a scales numerical question:

Aon Scales Numerical Sample Question:

Assess the following statement according to the DATA provided:  Costs  in year 5 were greater than the combined Costs of both year 4 and year 6.

Wrong

Correct!

Wrong

View Explanation

According to the Revenues tab, costs in year 4 and year 6 were 20050 and 29870, respectively. The combined costs for year 4 and year 6 is 20050 + 29870 = 49920. The costs in year 5 was only 47607 which is less than 49920.

Therefore, the correct answer is False.

Tip💡: You can see that there are multiple tabs that you need to examine in order to find the answer to the question.
Not only that this is wherein lies the main difficulty of these questions, but submitting your answer while the wrong tab is on display will reduce points from your aon assessment test result, even if your answer is correct.

Aon Scales EQL Test

A numerical comprehension test that assesses your mental calculation abilities to solve basic arithmetic functions.
You will have 15 questions to answer in 5 minutes.
In each question, you will be presented with missing parts that you need to complete by choosing numbers from 1 to 9, so the given result is correct.

Let's have a look at AON assessment test free scales eql question:

Aon Scales EQL Sample Question:

Complete the equation! Each digit may only be used once.

Aon cut-e scales eql example
View Explanation

According to BODMAS (Brackets, Orders, Division and Multiplication, Addition and Subtraction), We should start with multiplication.

Then, we should think about the numbers that will best advance us toward the predefined result. For instance, 3*5 equals 15, which is close to 16. If we apply it to the equation:

x + 15 = 16
x = 1

Therefore, a possible solution is (1, 3, 5).

Other possible solutions: (4, 2, 6), (8, 2, 4), (6, 2, 5).

Tip💡: Start by tackling the easier calculations first to build momentum. Look for pairs of numbers that combine to reach target values quickly, and save any complex calculations for later if possible. This strategy will help you manage your time effectively and reduce stress as the clock counts down.

Aon/Cut-e Digit Challenge

A numerical aptitude test that assesses your basic numerical comprehension.
You will have 6 minutes to answer as many questions as possible.
This is a similar test to the scales eql, but the main difference is in the duration of the test and its difficulty level.

Here is a video from our Aon test prep resources that shows exactly how it works:

Tip💡: As you can see, the difficulty of the questions increases as you progress, the equation has more variables and the calculations are more challenging, especially under a strict time limit. For this test practice mental math regularly to improve your speed and accuracy, focusing on addition, subtraction, and multiplication basics.

Aon Scales verbal

verbal reasoning test that assesses your ability to understand, analyze and interpret information presented in written text.
You will have 49 tasks to complete in 12 minutes.

You will be presented with a text divided into different tabs by topics. Each task comprises a statement, and you will need to determine if it’s true, false, or cannot say according to the information contained within the text.

Let's look at an example of a scales verbal question:

Aon Verbal Scales Sample Question

Assess the following statement: Flying Colours’ Women’s Wear and Menswear product divisions focus solely on clothing for adults.

Wrong

View Explanation

Although none of the words or phrases in the statement seem to suggest a specific tab, by reviewing the statement as a whole we can gather that it addresses products offered within a division. Therefore, the most relevant tab would be 'Products and Services'.

Since the statement discusses menswear and womenswear, we should review the 'Women's and Menswear' section of the tab. According to this section, "the Menswear and Womenswear Division's primary focus is adults, but increasingly, also teens".

Therefore, the statement is FASLE

Tip💡: Like the scales numerical, you need to examine all the different tabs in order to find the information you are searching for, and you have to submit your answer while on the correct tab, otherwise the points will be reduced from your final score.

Scales verbal instruct

A verbal aptitude test that assesses your ability to analyze, locate information and draw conclusions from given text.
You will have 24 tasks to complete in 8 minutes.

Like scales verbal, you will be presented with a text divided into different tabs by topics.
Each task is a statement, and you will need to determine if it’s true or false.

Tip💡: For each task, there is only one solution and only one informational topic required to evaluate the statement. Thus, you need to be sure of which tab you are looking for and pinpoint the accurate information.

  1. Complete the sentence questions.
  2. Matching words with their definitions.
  3. correct spelling errors.

Tip💡: The options you are given in this test are deliberately confusing. This is why you should pay extra attention to every option before choosing your answer. In addition, wrong answers will subtract points, so when given the option, it is better to choose the question mark than guess.

AON/Cut-e Scales mtu

Aon/Cut-e Grid Challenge

A working memory test that assesses your working memory and aptitude to focus your attention.
You will have 9 tasks to complete in 9 minutes.

In each task, you will be presented with a series of dots highlighted in a particular sequence.

You need to memorize the order and position of the appearing dots while answering another unrelated task before you are asked to repeat the highlighted sequence.

Here is a video from our pre-pack that shows exactly how it works:

Tip💡: As you can see, you are required to remain highly concentrated through the duration of the test, and not be distracted by the in-between tasks to be able to repeat the dot's sequence.

Aon/Cut-e Scales e3+

A concentration evaluation that assesses your ability to maintain attention over time and act quickly when facing specific signals.
You will have 2 minutes to complete as many tasks as possible.

You will be requested to indicate when a certain object is surrounded by a certain number of dots. The objects and the number of dots can vary from task to task.

Tip💡: It's might seem like a simple task, but its difficulty lies in the dynamism of the instructions that change for each task. With only 2 minutes, your mind needs to stay sharp for every second.

Aon/Cut-e Motion Challenge

A planning capability test that assesses your aptitude to plan and solve complex problems.
You will have 6 minutes to complete as many tasks as possible.

You will be presented with a grid containing objects of different sizes that blocks a ball from reaching an exit. You need to move the objects such that the ball reaches the exit with as few moves as possible.

aon cut-e motionchallenge

Tip💡: The main difficulty of this test is not only to move the ball to the exit but also to succeed to do so with the least moves you can. Each move you make affects your score.

Aon/Cut-e Scales CLS Test

An inductive-logical thinking test that assesses your ability to recognize rules and patterns and evaluate your inductive reasoning competencies.
You will have 12 tasks to complete in 12 minutes.

You will be presented with two groups of grids. Each grid has a colour assigned above or below it; grids with the same colour assignment belong in the same category, as defined by a certain unknown rule or pattern. You need to deduce the rule and assign the unmarked grids to the correct category.

Let's see an example of a scales cls question, where the top row of grids are categorized, and the lower row requires categorization:

Sample Scales CLS Question

Pattern: All tables with marking above (orange) have a 2 in the same place.

The correct markings (from left to right) are: bottom, top, top, bottom.

Aon/Cut-e Scales ix (discover rules)

An inductive reasoning test that assesses your ability to recognize patterns and discrepancies and interpret relationships in given data.
You will have 20 tasks to complete in 5 minutes.

You will be presented with a series of 9 objects containing shapes, symbols, lines, etc. You need to recognize the series’ pattern and identify the object that doesn't fit the pattern’s rule.

Let's take a look at an example of a scales ix question:

Sample Scales ix Question

Please mark the object that doesn't fit the rule

Wrong

Wrong

Correct!

Wrong

Wrong

Wrong

Wrong

Wrong

Wrong

View Explanation

The correct answer is object #3.

The objects form a formal series. All objects contain a ‘V’ shape surrounded by 4 lines cutting across each other. In each object, one of the intersection points is missing. When moving from one object to the next one in the series, the missing intersection shifts one corner anti-clockwise.

The only object that does not fit this rule is object #3, as it has the top-right intersection missing instead of the bottom-right.

Note: The 90°-clockwise movement of the ‘V’ shape is kept throughout the entire series, and thus cannot be the key for solving the question; it only serves as a distraction.

Tip💡: There is only one correct answer, which means that the rule you choose has to be such that only one of the objects breaks it.

Aon/Cut-e Scales Switch Challenge

A deductive reasoning test that assesses your ability to understand principles and patterns in logical steps and apply them to solve problems.
You will have 6 minutes to complete as many tasks as possible.

You will be presented with two rows of symbols, with one being an order change of the other by a digit sequence operator. You need to identify the correct operator for changing the upper row to match the lower one.

Let’s view an example of the scales switchChallenge question:

Scales Switch Challenge Sample Question

Which operator is needed to convert the input sequence into the output sequence?
aon switch challenge example

Wrong

Wrong

Correct!

Wrong

View Explanation

The correct answer is (C).

In this question, there are two rows of symbols and a missing operator.

The operator changes the order of the symbols that appear in the upper row to a new order in the lower row.

The digits of the operator represent the symbol according to its position in the upper row before the operator changed it.

To solve this question, you should look at the first symbol of the lower row. Search the position of that symbol in the upper row.

This position is the first digit of the operator.

Tip💡: As you progress, the difficulty of the tasks increases, and more operation options are added.

Aon Scales LST Gap Challenge

A deductive logical thinking test that assesses your ability to learn rules and apply them correctly.
You will have 6 minutes to complete as many tasks as possible.

You will be presented with a grid containing a series of up to 5 different symbols, and a cell containing a question mark. You need to replace the question mark with the symbol that fits in that cell such that a given shape can only appear once in each row and once in each column.

Let’s see an example of a scales LST Gap Challenge question:

View Explanation

The shape missing from the third row is the X- therefore, the answer is X.

Tip💡: Each symbol can appear only once in a row or a column. Thus, you have to pay extra attention to the location of every symbol and the number of times it spears in the grid.

AON/Cut-e Scales CLX

An inductive reasoning test that assesses your ability to look at a group of items, observe patterns and interrelationships and draw logical conclusions.
You will have 6 minutes to complete as many tasks as possible.

You will be presented with 6 grids containing different symbols.
You first need to identify the rule that the two grids on the left follow, and then choose the two grids on the right that follow the same rule.

Aon Scales CLX Sample Question

aon cut-e scales clx example

Correct!

Wrong

Wrong

Wrong

View Explanation

The rule is that each individual grid contains the same shape in the upper row as in the lower row (The upper grids have plus shapes, while the lower grids contain squares). In addition, the middle row is identical for both grids.

Grids 1 and 3 are the only grids that follow this rule. Therefore, The correct answer is 1,3.

Tip💡: The questions’ difficulty level increases throughout the test, and it will be more challenging to identify the governing rule, especially in a time limit of only 6 minutes.

Aon/Cut-e Shapes

A personality test that evaluates your everyday behavior in workplace situations.
There are three different versions of this test, each tailored for a specific position – Sales, Graduate, and Management.

Tip💡: You may find it difficult to rate the points according to what bests fit your personality and preferences and may have to compromise in your answer.

Cut-e Chat Assess Test

situational judgment test (SJT) that evaluates your behavior and judgment when presented with various work-related scenarios.

You will be presented with a chat simulation in which you receive incoming messages from colleagues and customers. You need to reply to all the messages by selecting from the predefined answers options or typing your answer into a free text box.

Here is an example of the chatAssess simulation:

Aon/Cut-e ADEPT-15

A behavioral assessment that evaluates your workplace style and tendencies.
You will have 100 statements to address in approximately 30 minutes.

You will be presented with pairs of statements. For each pair, you need to select the statement you agree with more.

Tip💡: You may encounter pairs of statements that are both equally agreeable or disagreeable, thus you will need to consider the best answer that will reflect your personality.
